****Finally
Updated!!!!****
I'm working on re-doing the
entire site, but in the meantime I have put some new information
about Push to Walk
(see below) and recent updates. Sorry for any broken
links.
Darren sustained a Spinal Cord Injury on
July 23rd, 2004 diving into the bay at Long Beach Island,
NJ. This site is designed to tell the story of
Darren's injury and his road to recovery and provide information for
those in similar situations.

Push to Walk is a brand new organization with a
facility scheduled to open February 2007 in Bloomingdale, New
Jersey. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for
people with spinal cord injuries through recovery and exercise
training in a one-on-one relationship between client and
trainer.
We will have 1000 sq ft of space outfitted
with platform and floor mats, a Total Gym, spin bike, standing
bar and assorted other equipment to help clients regain and
improve neuromuscular function. The individual workouts will
work toward improving their core and upper body strength while
focusing on leg strength through weight bearing and repetitive
types of exercise. Individualized programs of exercise will be
designed according to each client’s unique needs. An
evaluation to assess each new client will be conducted prior
to the start of any regular program.
Push to Walk is being formed by John and
Cynthia Templeton, whose son Darren sustained a C5 SCI in July
2004 after diving into shallow water. To learn more about
Darren, check out his website at www.darrentempleton.com.
The staff will include two trainers: Eric
Prol, who is Darren’s current trainer and halfway through his
Level 1 Certification Training at Project Walk®, Carlsbad,
California; and Lindsay Huisman who was a Specialist at
Project Walk® for two years and has a total of more than 3
years experience working with SCI clients. She is also a
certified Egoscue Posture Analysis Specialist.
We are currently working on this website, as
well as a whole program of services we will be offering to
clients. Please e-mail ctempleton@pushtowalknj.org. (Make
sure you put the “nj” in
there!) | |
